Discover Charlotte’s Story
I left school in 2014 and I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life or what career I wanted. I decided to go to The Academy of Music and Sound to study music. I stayed there for a year, but the classroom study and exams weren’t my cup of tea.
I decided to go and look for full time work, I got myself a job at Nationwide Building Society, but I wanted to find a way to work and gain a qualification at the same time.
Find an Apprenticeship
I decided to look on a website called ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ and found a local apprenticeship in business administration at level 2 with Green Labyrinth Training but also working for Green Labyrinth.
I got invited for an interview and I started the next week. Whilst I was completing my level 2 I was responsible for the following:
- Scanning
- Photocopying
- General admin
- Filing
Pay Rise & Full-time Job
I completed my apprenticeship in a year, gained a pay rise and carried on working for Green Labyrinth as a full-time administrator.
Promotion & Opportunity
I have now progressed onto a management level 3 apprenticeship and my responsibilities have increased dramatically. I’m now responsible for;
- Training staff members on systems and processes
- Claiming funding
- Project lead for audits
- Claiming apprenticeship certificates
- Learner reports
- Financial reports
- And more
I also work closely alongside the directors of the company, I have been with the company for 3 years and I have just moved into my first house at 20.
Don’t get me wrong an apprenticeship wasn’t an easy route, I had to make sure I was at work every day on time, I had to dress and act responsible and respectful and I had to put the work in to get where I am today.
An apprenticeship was 100% the right route for me.
