Job Description

1st Line IT Support Technician. 

Purpose of Role: 

Are you someone who enjoys interacting with others and would love to build a career working in IT? Come and join our close-knit team as a 1st Line IT support Technician.

Let’s take a look at what the 1st Line Support Technician role will consist of: Reporting directly to the Head of Support, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a quality level of support for our clients as you assist with day-to-day remote IT user issues. 

Salary and Benefits: From £5.00 per hour, Offering a competitive pay, plus 5.6 weeks holiday and bank holidays. 

Paid for exams and training provided. 
Onsite parking.

Working hours: 30hrs a week. Plus WFH / Office negotiable post probation. 

Main Duties:

Answer incoming support calls, providing a friendly and helpful first point of contact

Dealing with users on the telephone and in person to determine issues quickly and clearly 

Managing personal Service Desk ticket queue ensuring ticket data is clear, concise and up to date 

Providing excellent user service from start to finish 

Configuring wireless controllers and access points to deploy our solutions 

Managing deployments from a customer perspective to ensure success (from start to finish) 

Assessing issues quickly, taking appropriate action to escalate when required 

Providing new hardware installs 

Daily maintenance of IT equipment i.e., syncing printers, hardware repairs 

Microsoft Windows Desktop Support 

Active directory – change passwords, update settings, create and delete users 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Strong ability to self-learn and progress 

Approachable with good people skills

Requirements

You will have prior qualifications in Computer Science or related course with proven experience in IT. 
 
We will provide relevant training to ensure that you feel confident and comfortable in dealing with the varied and different equipment we support. But attitude towards learning everything there is to know about wireless technologies is paramount. 
 
However prior experience working within telephone support roles or working with customers to overcome technical challenges may be beneficial as you will be expected to work closely and on a daily basis with clients. 

Desirable but not essential:

Prior experience in an IT related role 

Prior Office 365 experience – create new users, update email addresses, change forwarding, check mailbox sizes 

A basic understanding of the fundamentals of networking, such as equipment used for providing wired and wireless networking and the basics of TCP/IP.

A Note:

You will be based out of our office located at Victoria Road, Swindon, with a view to WFH at least once a week on the successful conclusion of probation. There will be potential for travel to client sites to provide on-site assistance when the role necessitates as such.
