Care Leaver Declaration

**P101. A child in care is defined as: 

An eligible child - a young person who is 16 or 17 and who has been looked after by the local authority/health and social care trust for at least a period of 13 weeks since the age of 14, and who is still looked after;

A relevant child - a young person who is 16 or 17 who has left care after their 16th birthday and before leaving care was an eligible child; or

A former relevant child - a young person who is aged between 18 and 21 (up to their 25th birthday if they are in education or training) who, before turning 18, was either an eligible or a relevant child.

If you match any of the above and are starting an Apprenticeship you can receive up to £1,000 in a one-off bursary payment!

If yes, You will need to confirm:

●        You understand that you are eligible for and would like to receive a bursary as a care leaver.

●        You understand that if you have been found to have accepted the payment incorrectly or if you are ineligible then the government will require it to be repaid.

●        You have not been paid a care leavers bursary before. This only includes the care leavers bursary paid by the ESFA; other local incentives do not apply.

16 - 18

●        You must include signed consent for Green Labyrinth to inform your employer that you have been in the care of their local authority.
As your declaration will be used to generate additional payments to both the main provider and employer to support you transition into work.

19 - 24

●        Confirmation of eligibility for any additional payments, we would require an email or letter confirmation from a Personal Advisor or local authority confirming the individual's care leaver status or evidence of an education, health and care (EHC) plan.

●        You have the option to give Green Labyrinth consent to inform your employer that you have been in the care of their local authority.
As your declaration will be used to generate additional payments to both the main provider and your employer to support you transition into work.

If you are successful:

●        You will receive £1,000 in a one-off payment within 90 days of starting your Apprenticeship

●        After this you will be required to sign L5.2 - Care Leaver - Learner receipt of payment

●        If applicable your employer will be required to sign  L5.3 - Care Leaver - Employer receipt of payment

●        If you have been found to have accepted the payment incorrectly or if you are ineligible then the government will require it to be repaid.
