Earn While You Learn and Embrace Debt-Free Education

You don’t necessarily need any qualifications to start.

Why an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are an exciting opportunity. You get on the job learning and put newly learned skills into practice. Apprenticeships are available for anyone over 16 years old, from school leavers to people upskilling in their careers to those wanting a complete career change. There are opportunities and professional support for people with SEND to help them in to work and support independence. Apprenticeships are government funded programmes. This means you will not have any student loans or tuition fees. You’ll just need to pay for things like lunch and bus fare.

What’s the process?

1. Identify an apprenticeship:

What do you want to do for work? Maybe you are interested in working in a shop, manufacturing on a production line or working in an office. Green Labyrinth are to deliver apprenticeships in business administration, manufacturing, customer service or facilities management.

2. Meet us for a chat:

Contact Green Labyrinth to discuss your CV, job ads or apprenticeship applications. We can arrange a face-to-face meeting or phone call to discuss your options and available vacancies.

3. Meeting an employer:

An apprenticeship is a real job. Green Labyrinth will introduce you to an employer and you will have an interview with other candidates. If successful, we will agree a start date and you will be inducted to the workplace and enrolled onto the apprenticeship programme.

4. Skills check:

For good quality work-based learning, the learning needs to have an individualised plan made just for you. To start the plan, Green Labyrinth need find out what you know. You will be required to complete some skills questions about English and maths – even if you already have qualifications.

5. Starting Work:

After a job offer has been made by an employer, you will be inducted into the workplace and enrolled onto the apprenticeship. There will be weekly sessions with your assessor, sometimes in the workplace and sometimes in groups with other apprentices. Regular progress checks are conducted to keep the apprenticeship on track.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t have any qualifications. Can I become an apprentice?

If you have no qualifications don’t panic. Our apprenticeship won’t require you to have any qualifications or experience. You will learn on the job with industry experts and an employer will teach you how their business works.

I don’t have English and maths qualifications. Can I still become an apprentice?

Yes. Functional skills in English and maths will be required before the end of the apprenticeship. Where there is a need, we have expert tutors to help you. You can still apply for and successfully land yourself that job.

What is expected of me?

An apprenticeship is a real job. The employer will induct you into the workforce and ensure you know their expectations of an employee. Green Labyrinth will give you an induction for the learning part of the apprenticeship. There will be a signed agreement between the employer, Green Labyrinth and you. You will be required to spend 20% of your working week on what is called Off The Job Training (OTJT). You will spend 6 hours of a 30 hour week doing OTJT. During OTJT you will be learning about the job you do at work and have an opportunity to get to know other apprentices.

What support do I get?

Apprentices are supported by the employer who is the boss. Green Labyrinth take their responsibilities to learners very seriously. We have well trained industry experts to support the apprenticeship programme. Green Labyrinth support learners with any Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We even have a resident counsellor to support learners with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) conditions. A Designated Safeguarding Lead will be on hand to support when any safeguarding disclosures are made. Green Labyrinth want to be sure our learners feel safe during the whole apprenticeship journey.

How much is it going to cost me?

Nothing, zero, zilch! At no time will anyone ask you to contribute to your apprenticeship. The programme is funded by the government.

What happens if I change my mind?

Not all apprenticeships are successful. A probationary period is in place like any workplace. The probationary period is for the apprentice and employer to decide if they have made the right choices. Green Labyrinth will attempt to find a new vacancy for the apprentice if things don’t workout.

Do I have employment rights?

You have the same rights as any employee. At your induction into the workplace all your rights will be made known to you. Green Labyrinth will be there to support you through every step of the apprenticeship and will offer support wherever required, just discuss it with your assessor.
